LIVE > WELLNESS RETREATS: Wrinklers Wood Glamping
Description
Join Emily for a night in a tent, as she explores what's on offer at Wrinklers Wood Glamping, a site hidden deep into the Cornish countryside with safari-style tents, treetop houses and cabins tucked among the trees. The owners, James and Alex, spent 12 years running an eco-lodge in Tanzania and have tried to create a little piece of that back here in the UK. You can feel the influence of Tanzania all around. The site feels eco-friendly with most of the furnishing being sourced locally and responsibly sourced fires heating the accommodation and the chlorine-free wooden hot tubs. The family has still yet to go off-grid completely to run the operations but has plans to do this in the next few years.
They have also built in a wellness aspect to the experience offering a huge list of treatments including infra-red and sound meditations. With wellbeing being such a critical aspect of not only sustainability but our lives in general, it's great to see such a range of holistic treatments to treat the guests' physical and mental health. We know that wellness retreats aren't always accessible for everybody, it is a bit of a luxury, and as a society we do need to create more well-being in our day-to-day lives. "Retreating" for a weekend break is not solely the answer. But what James and Alex have created here is a haven for prioritising yourself and your mental health and an opportunity to connect with nature that many of us do not have access to in our day-to-day lives. Thanks James and Alex!
