DescriptionGreen Britain TV is in Scotland to visit Locavore, a social enterprise which is offering its customers a more sustainable local food system which is better for the local economy, environment and communities. As the world becomes increasingly aware of the impact of consumerism on the environment, there is a growing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable options in every aspect of our life, including grocery shopping. Traditional supermarkets have long been the go-to destination for all our food and household needs, but they are now facing scrutiny for their contribution to environmental degradation. These supermarkets are notorious for their excessive packaging and contribution to significant carbon emissions and energy consumption. Not to mention unhealthy food options. Since Locavore was founded in 2011 they have opened 3 shops, developed several market gardens, established a veg box scheme and engaged the local community in thinking about issues around food. Locavore are leading the way in offering an alternative to traditional food systems placing a strong emphasis on providing organic, locally sourced, and ethically produced products. By prioritizing these qualities, they are ensuring that their customers have access to wholesome, safe, and high-quality food options that are free from harmful chemicals and additives, while also supporting local farmers and producers.
